Holidays Around the Blog Linky!

I just love the holiday season in the classroom. It's so hectic and busy, and I often wish I could freeze time so I could really enjoy the holiday season! What I love most of all is the atmosphere in the classroom and the children's excitement this time of year. As my own children are growing older and losing that magic of the holidays, it's nice to still be able to foster and experience the magic in my classroom. I was so excited when I heard that Amy from Learning Lessons with Mrs. Labrasciano was hosting a Holidays Around the Blog Linky! Here's a little glimpse into my classroom at holiday time. Be sure to click on the pictures to see the freebies or files shown.

The holiday fun in my classroom begins right around Halloween. This year I created a different take on the "We've Been Booed" tradition. I included owl themes with "We've Been Whooed, Hooted, or Owled". The kiddos were so excited when they saw the owl basket outside the door! (Click on the picture below to get your freebie!)

I love making party packs for the holidays. I spent some time Thursday night cutting out bookmarks, homework passes, and treat bag toppers for my students' treat bags. (I figured they would get enough candy, so I didn't print out the candy bar wrappers!) I filled their treat bags with a homework pass, Halloween bookmark, a pencil, erasers, Hoot Loot (our classroom currency!), a pack of goldfish crackers, and a caramel apple sucker (their favorite!) They loved them!

I was so excited to pull out my fall felt bags, pails, and containers last week!  Every year Target has the cutest felt baskets in the Dollar Spot, and they are perfect for holiday centers. The students love to draw a card from a matching themed basket! I have them stored away for every holiday. We use lots of center activities for grammar and word work. I love how engaged and on task the students are during this time of day.
I always have a group of amazing parent volunteers who help in my classroom. Around Thanksgiving time, I like to treat them to a "Thanks a Latte" card, Starbucks gift card, and a Latte scented soap or candle from Bath and Body Works. The parents always get a kick out of this gift, and I love spoiling them for all the help they give to the class and me! Click on the pictures below to get your freebie.
Every year we have fun with our classroom elf. This year I am creating some resources to accompany our elf. I'm also excited that there is a new reindeer this year, and the children can actually touch it, and it won't lose its magic. I plan to use it as a class incentive. The group with the most points will get the reindeer at their table for the day. Stay tuned for some fun and freebies to come. Every year on the last day of school before Winter Break, I have holiday activity centers. The students make a craft, do an activity, or make a treat at each center. They leave with a bag full of goodies, and it is my gift to them. We always make Magic Reindeer Food. The kiddos mix up the oats and sprinkles, and bag up their reindeer food and add the label. This is a holiday favorite of my own children.
These cinnamon owl ornaments have to be my favorite parent gift I've ever made in the classroom! My sweet friend Kristina showed them to me last Christmas, and I knew I had to have my students make them for their parents! Click on the pictures to see the ingredients and directions. I added some information about my experience with the dough and what worked for me and what didn't. The parents flipped over these!
