Welcome to the October edition of Pick 3! Every month when I sit down to write my Pick 3 post, I'm in shock that another month has flown by! Soon the holidays will be upon us, along with the whirlwind that it entails. If only we could slow down time somehow!
I can always depend on the bloggers in this link-up to share new and amazing ideas and activities to enrich my students' learning experience in my classroom. I hope you are able to find some great new ideas to use in your classroom too!
I love the PAWSitive Planner guides from Lisa! They are filled to the brim with fun thematic book, video, and lesson ideas to help you easily plan an amazing unit! This one is all about fire safety, which is the first week of October- this week! I love how she has done all of the planning for us! She has several others that you can find at the top of her post HERE. Check out the one on pumpkins too- it's amazing!

These Rice Krispy Treat monsters are adorable! To save time, you could buy the ones in the package, but I would probably make them myself- they taste better! These would be perfect for a classroom party. I might make a batch and stick them inside goody bags for the kiddos to take home. I also plan to make these for my girls' Halloween party- they would look adorable sitting out on a platter!

These story book inspired pumpkins would be so fun for the students to do! Next week is our Fall Break, so I might send this home as an optional project with my students. Those who want to make a story book character can, but I won't make it mandatory for those students who won't be around and don't want to participate. How cute would they look decorating the classroom though?

And just like that, it's September. I had my first Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks today. A wonderful friend who volunteers in my classroom almost daily brought me one- my first of the season! I'm really not thrilled about saying goodbye to August and that I notice it's getting dark earlier each day, but I do look forward to the cooler fall weather!

If you are in need of some September inspiration, you have come to the right place! I always find the best pins from the bloggers who participate in our link up!

I fell in love with these marbled painted leaves! I'm sure my students would make a huge mess with the paint and shaving cream, but the finished products would be worth it. I would love to decorate a classroom tree with these beauties! They are gorgeous!

These apple core art projects are so adorable! They would be a great art project for the kiddos during an apple unit. I might make a few samples and see how the apples look when they are made from a whole plate. I will probably let my students decide whether they want to create whole apples or apple cores.

The kids always go crazy over baking soda and vinegar experiments- and this one involves an apple! I am definitely doing this one during Apple Week! Jennifer from First Grade Blue Skies has lots of other great apple week ideas on her blog. And if you are in need of a great homemade Crock Pot applesauce recipe, be sure to check this one out. I have each student bring an apple to share, then we peel them and chop them up to make our applesauce for Apple Day.

I haven't quite wrapped my head around the fact that school starts tomorrow for me. I'm feeling nervous, excited, and overwhelmed! I learned so much last year, and I'm ready to take what I learned to make this the best school year ever!
This month I am focusing on back-to-school related pins. Some of you might be in my shoes, and if you aren't you will be at some point soon! I always come away from this linky with so many great, new pins that I've never seen before!

Have you ever read any of Maria Dismondy's books? They are wonderful, and perfect for the beginning of the year. I love the compare/contrast activity the blogger shared using this book. This would be a great lesson on celebrating diversity at the beginning of the year! And if you are interested, here is a YouTube video of Maria reading Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun. And you can scroll down under Resources for a reading guide here

I can remember making a life-size paper doll when I was in third grade. I've always wanted to have my students make them for Back to School Night. I wish our B2S night was more of an open house, but the parents expect a teacher presentation, and need a place to sit and listen to me give the presentation. The kiddos' paper dolls might get squished! Maybe they can make mini versions to sit on top of their desks.

I think my teammates would love this little gift on the first day of school! I plan to buy polish for them in our school colors. A little pedicure set with the tags attached would be really cute too!  Such a fun, free idea and printable!

Welcome to the May edition of Pinterest Pick 3!
I know we all say it, but it really is hard to believe the school year is almost over! I have less than four weeks, but have so much left I want to explore with my kiddos. Every year it seems like we begin running at full speed after Winter Break, then the second half of the year is gone before we know it!
If you are in need of some ideas to get you through this crazy month, you've stopped at the right place. The amazing bloggers who join our linky never disappoint. I always find something new and pin tons of great ideas when I scroll through everyone's post. Thank you to all who have stopped by or have contributed!

These washi tape popsicle stick frames are adorable! I could see them being used for many different things- Mother's Day and end of the year gifts, to name a few! They look really easy to make, and I heard the Dollar Tree now has washi tape. I would love to make them for my students!

We are learning about different fairy tales in my classroom right now. A few weeks ago I saw some fairy tale STEM sets advertised in an online teacher store. They were over $30 each! After talking to my science-expert friend, she sent me the link to this site that has 10 STEM fairy tale projects! I plan to tweak a few of them to meet the needs of my second graders. I'm going to keep the supplies for each challenge in a food storage container and make labels for each so I can use them year after year. (I will add those to my blog when I have them finished!) My students are going to flip over these!

We just started an ocean unit in science. I found anchor charts, art projects, writing activities, and classroom decor. I would love to have the students help decorate the entire classroom in an ocean theme! I have a huge roll of bubble wrap, and I was thinking that might work with different ocean animals mounted on top like the photo above.
